Elect
Garishan
Ravishankar
Candidate for public school trustee, York Region District School Board — Markham wards 5 and 7.
OCT 16 – 26, 2026
Meet Gari
A trustee who listens first.
My journey has been rooted in public service, community leadership, and education. I've worked with the Ministry of the Attorney General and the Government of Canada, and spent years mentoring young people through educational and public-speaking programs.
I'm running because our schools need trustees who listen to parents, students, and educators — and bring people together to find practical solutions.
What I will work on
Five priorities.

About
Gari Ravishankar
Candidate for YRDSB Public School Board Trustee — Ward 5 & 7, Markham
My journey has been rooted in public service, community leadership, and education. I have a legal background and have worked with the Ministry of the Attorney General, the Government of Canada, and community organizations, while also spending time mentoring and working with young people through educational and public-speaking programs.
Through these experiences, I've seen firsthand how important strong leadership, advocacy, and access to opportunity are for our communities and for our students.
I'm running because I believe our schools need trustees who will listen to parents, students and educators, advocate for our schools, and bring people together to find practical solutions.
This campaign is about putting students first, strengthening our schools, and building a school system where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
I would be incredibly grateful for your support, encouragement, and help spreading the word. If you know someone in Ward 5 & 7, please feel free to share this page with them.

School town halls
Online town halls, school by school.
Gari is planning a series of online town hall meetings through the year, organized by school community, so parents, students, and educators across wards 5 and 7 can ask questions directly. Dates are being scheduled — sign up on the left to be notified as they're confirmed.
Canvassing
Two minutes. One question.
Volunteers ask one thing at the door: are you on the Markham voters' list? If not, it takes two minutes on a phone. If you'd like to canvass, check "I can volunteer" and Gari's team will follow up with a script and a route.
Donate
Support the campaign.
Every dollar goes toward reaching voters in wards 5 and 7 before Oct 26.
Two ways to give are outlined below. The e-Transfer option can go live as soon as you confirm it; the online option needs a compliant donation processor connected first — see the note under that card.
Interac e-Transfer
Send an e-Transfer to the campaign's dedicated bank account at vote4garishan@gmail.com. Include your full name and postal code in the message so the campaign can issue a proper receipt under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
Donate online
For card and Apple Pay/Google Pay donations, this campaign should connect a municipal-election-compliant donation processor (for example a service built for Ontario municipal campaigns) so contribution limits and receipting are handled correctly. Once you have that account, this card is where its embed or link goes.
This site can't process real payments on its own — donations for a municipal campaign have to be collected in a way that meets Ontario's Municipal Elections Act rules on contribution limits and receipts. Worth confirming the exact setup with Elections Markham or a campaign compliance advisor before this page goes live.
